U\u010d\u00edme se, \u017ee odpustit druh\u00e9mu je projevem s\u00edly a do jist\u00e9 m\u00edry i moudrosti, \u017ee nelp\u011bn\u00ed na k\u0159ivd\u00e1ch a snaha porozum\u011bt druh\u00e9mu \u010dlov\u011bku je znakem vysp\u011bl\u00e9 mor\u00e1lky. Tento pohled je hluboce zako\u0159en\u011bn v k\u0159es\u0165ansk\u00e9m kulturn\u00edm d\u011bdictv\u00ed, ale nebyl v\u017edy samoz\u0159ejmost\u00ed. Ve sv\u011bt\u011b starov\u011bk\u00e9ho \u0158\u00edma m\u011blo odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed \u00fapln\u011b jin\u00fd v\u00fdznam, nebo sp\u00ed\u0161 \u017e\u00e1dn\u00fd.<\/p>\n<p>\u0158\u00edman\u00e9 stav\u011bli svou spole\u010dnost na principech cti, s\u00edly, autority a p\u0159\u00edsn\u00e9ho z\u00e1kona. Odpustit bylo neobvykl\u00e9. Pomst\u00edt se bylo p\u0159irozen\u00e9. A slitov\u00e1n\u00ed? To bylo nebezpe\u010dn\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>VIRTUS<\/em><\/strong><strong>, NE SLITOV\u00c1N\u00cd<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Kdy\u017e se dnes mluv\u00ed o \u201ectnostech\u201c, p\u0159edstavujeme si soucit, poctivost nebo sebeob\u011btov\u00e1n\u00ed. Ve starov\u011bk\u00e9m \u0158\u00edm\u011b v\u0161ak ctnost (<em>virtus<\/em>) znamenala p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm s\u00edlu, odvahu, rozhodnost a ochotu jednat bez emoc\u00ed. <em>Virtus<\/em> byl ide\u00e1l \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e9ho mu\u017ee. Voj\u00e1ka, sen\u00e1tora, konzula a neobsahoval nic, co by p\u0159ipom\u00ednalo modern\u00ed \u201emilosrdenstv\u00ed\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>Latinsk\u00e9 slovo <em>virtus<\/em> souvis\u00ed s <em>vir<\/em>, co\u017e znamen\u00e1 mu\u017e. Ctnost byla v\u00fdhradn\u011b mu\u017eskou z\u00e1le\u017eitost\u00ed, projevem mu\u017esk\u00e9 schopnosti vl\u00e1dnout, bojovat a \u010delit osudu se vzty\u010denou hlavou. Kdo odpou\u0161t\u011bl, riskoval, \u017ee bude pova\u017eov\u00e1n za slab\u00e9ho, nerozhodn\u00e9ho nebo dokonce z\u017een\u0161til\u00e9ho, co\u017e byla v o\u010d\u00edch \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e9 elity ur\u00e1\u017eka nejhrub\u0161\u00edho zrna. U\u017e ve vod\u00e1ch ni\u017e\u0161\u00ed politiky byla zn\u00e1mka odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed spole\u010densk\u00e1 sebevra\u017eda, ve vysok\u00e9 politice re\u00e1ln\u011b hrozila fyzick\u00e1 smrt. \u0158\u00edmsk\u00fd sv\u011bt byl kdysi velmi tvrd\u00e9 m\u00edsto a pokud jste v n\u011bm cht\u011bli \u017e\u00edt, museli jste sami b\u00fdt tvrd\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:pullquote {\"align\":\"right\"} --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201eSoucit se zl\u00fdmi je krutost\u00ed v\u016f\u010di dobr\u00fdm.\u201c<\/p>\n<p><cite><em>Tacitus<\/em><\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>POMSTA, JAKO OCHRANA CTI<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>\u0158\u00edmsk\u00e1 spole\u010dnost byla hluboce hierarchick\u00e1 a postaven\u00e1 na konceptu <em>dignitas,<\/em> osobn\u00ed d\u016fstojnosti, respektu a presti\u017ee. Pokud t\u011b n\u011bkdo urazil, po\u0161kodil tvou rodinu nebo zpochybnil tv\u016fj status, bylo tvou povinnost\u00ed reagovat. Odveta nebyla osobn\u00ed z\u00e1le\u017eitost, byla to nutnost. V o\u010d\u00edch spole\u010dnosti by takov\u00fd \u010dlov\u011bk jinak ztratil respekt a otev\u0159el dve\u0159e dal\u0161\u00edm \u00fatok\u016fm. Ohro\u017eoval t\u00edm nejen sebe, ale i svou rodinu a majetek.<\/p>\n<p>\u0158\u00edm byl kulturou, kde se slovo muselo br\u00e1nit \u010dinem. A\u0165 u\u017e \u0161lo o rodinn\u00e9 vendety, politick\u00e9 intriky nebo mezin\u00e1rodn\u00ed konflikty, s\u00edla byla jazykem moci. A tomuto jazyku rozum\u011bl \u00fapln\u011b ka\u017ed\u00fd. Ostatn\u011b u ka\u017ed\u00e9ho konfliktu nebo v\u00e1lky, do kter\u00e9 se \u0158\u00edm dostal, uvid\u00edte jak \u0158\u00edman\u00e9 okam\u017eit\u011b reagovali silou. Byl to zkr\u00e1tka typick\u00fd postup, a\u0165 u\u017e jste se \u0158\u00edman\u00e9 br\u00e1nili nebo \u00fato\u010dili.<\/p>\n<p>Sen\u00e1tor, kter\u00fd by odpustil sv\u00e9mu protivn\u00edkovi, riskoval politickou sebevra\u017edu. Gener\u00e1l, kter\u00fd by projevil slabost, by p\u0159i\u0161el o loajalitu sv\u00fdch voj\u00e1k\u016f. A ob\u010dan, kter\u00fd by se nepostavil zlod\u011bji nebo zr\u00e1dci, by mohl b\u00fdt s\u00e1m ob\u011bt\u00ed p\u0159\u00ed\u0161t\u011b.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>TREST M\u00cdSTO VYKOUPEN\u00cd<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>\u0158\u00edmsk\u00fd pr\u00e1vn\u00ed syst\u00e9m byl pokro\u010dil\u00fd a systematick\u00fd, ale v jednom se z\u00e1sadn\u011b li\u0161il od modern\u00edho. Nebyl zam\u011b\u0159en na n\u00e1pravu. C\u00edlem nebylo pachatele napravit, ale potrestat. Odstra\u0161uj\u00edc\u00ed s\u00edla trestu byla d\u016fle\u017eit\u011bj\u0161\u00ed ne\u017e motivace vin\u00edka nebo jeho budoucnost. Ve vykoupen\u00ed nebo n\u00e1prav\u011b \u0158\u00edman\u00e9 nevid\u011bli smysl. A v odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed u\u017e v\u016fbec ne.<\/p>\n<p>\u0158\u00edmsk\u00e9 pr\u00e1vo znalo pojem <em>clementia <\/em>\u2013 milost, ale pou\u017e\u00edvalo se sp\u00ed\u0161e jako v\u00fdjime\u010dn\u00fd akt panovn\u00edka ne\u017e jako b\u011b\u017en\u00e1 praxe.<\/p>\n<p>Nap\u0159\u00edklad zrada, velezrada, nepln\u011bn\u00ed vojensk\u00e9 povinnosti nebo \u00famysln\u00e9 po\u0161kozen\u00ed majetku mohly b\u00fdt trest\u00e1ny smrt\u00ed, bi\u010dov\u00e1n\u00edm, otroctv\u00edm nebo konfiskac\u00ed ve\u0161ker\u00e9ho jm\u011bn\u00ed a majetku. Po ob\u010dansk\u00e9 v\u00e1lce roku 49 p\u0159. n. l. se rozhodl nepopravit v\u011bt\u0161inu sv\u00fdch pora\u017een\u00fdch nep\u0159\u00e1tel, ale nab\u00eddnout jim milost. Pro\u010d? Proto\u017ee cht\u011bl p\u016fsobit jako velkorys\u00fd vl\u00e1dce. Jeho \u201e<em>clementia Caesaris<\/em>\u201c nebyla motivov\u00e1na osobn\u00edm soucitem, ale politickou strategi\u00ed: zachovat stabilitu a podpo\u0159it svou image.<\/p>\n<p>A p\u0159esto pr\u00e1v\u011b tato m\u00edrnost p\u0159isp\u011bla k jeho smrti. Mnoz\u00ed sen\u00e1to\u0159i se toti\u017e ob\u00e1vali, \u017ee Caesar nech\u00e1v\u00e1 sv\u00e9 nep\u0159\u00e1tele \u017e\u00edt jen proto, aby je mohl pozd\u011bji ovl\u00e1dnout. Kdy\u017e ho roku 44 p\u0159. n. l. zavra\u017edili, byla to pr\u00e1v\u011b jeho \u201evelkorysost\u201c, kter\u00e1 se mu \u010d\u00e1ste\u010dn\u011b vymstila.<\/p>\n<p>Jeho n\u00e1stupce Augustus pokra\u010doval v tradici <em>clementia<\/em>, ale op\u011bt sp\u00ed\u0161e jako n\u00e1stroj propagandy ne\u017e mor\u00e1ln\u00ed z\u00e1sady. V \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e9 politice toti\u017e ne\u0161lo o odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed. \u0160lo o to, vypadat jako n\u011bkdo, kdo si m\u016f\u017ee dovolit odpustit.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-acc4766 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"acc4766\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fe26921 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fe26921\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>K\u0158ES\u0164ANSTV\u00cd JAKO KULTURN\u00cd \u0160OK<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Kdy\u017e se v 1. stolet\u00ed n. l. za\u010dalo \u0161\u00ed\u0159it k\u0159es\u0165anstv\u00ed, \u0158\u00edman\u00e9 se s t\u00edmto nov\u00fdm u\u010den\u00edm nemohli ztoto\u017enit. Kristovo vol\u00e1n\u00ed \u201emilujte sv\u00e9 nep\u0159\u00e1tele\u201c, \u201enastav druhou tv\u00e1\u0159\u201c, \u201eodpou\u0161t\u011bj vin\u00edk\u016fm\u201c, to bylo v p\u0159\u00edm\u00e9m protikladu k \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e9mu \u017eivotn\u00edmu postoji. K\u0159es\u0165an\u00e9 odm\u00edtali vojenskou slu\u017ebu, necht\u011bli se klan\u011bt c\u00edsa\u0159i jako bohu, a co h\u016f\u0159, odm\u00edtali se mst\u00edt a d\u016fle\u017eit\u011bj\u0161\u00ed pro n\u011b byl posmrtn\u00fd \u017eivot.<\/p>\n<p>\u0158\u00edm\u0161t\u00ed auto\u0159i \u010dasto vn\u00edmali k\u0159es\u0165any jako slabochy, bl\u00e1zny nebo fanatiky. Jejich pasivita, pokora a zd\u00e1nliv\u00e1 slabost naru\u0161ovala z\u00e1kladn\u00ed pil\u00ed\u0159e \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e9ho uva\u017eov\u00e1n\u00ed. To, co k\u0159es\u0165an\u00e9 pova\u017eovali za svatost, vn\u00edmal \u0158\u00edm jako hrozbu.<\/p>\n<p>Teprve a\u017e kdy\u017e se k\u0159es\u0165anstv\u00ed stalo ofici\u00e1ln\u00edm n\u00e1bo\u017eenstv\u00edm \u0159\u00ed\u0161e, za\u010dalo pomalu p\u0159etv\u00e1\u0159et hodnoty spole\u010dnosti. Ale i tehdy se \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e1 st\u00e1tn\u00ed moc nau\u010dila \u201ek\u0159es\u0165ansk\u00e9\u201c odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed vyu\u017e\u00edvat sp\u00ed\u0161e jako n\u00e1stroj ne\u017e jako ctnost samu o sob\u011b.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>EXISTOVALO V \u0158\u00cdM\u011a SKUTE\u010cN\u00c9 ODPU\u0160T\u011aN\u00cd?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Na individu\u00e1ln\u00ed \u00farovni jist\u011b existovali lid\u00e9, kte\u0159\u00ed se rozhodli druh\u00fdm odpustit. A\u0165 u\u017e to bylo ze soucitu, z l\u00e1sky, z \u00fanavy nebo z p\u0159esv\u011bd\u010den\u00ed. Ale \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e1 kultura jako celek nekladla d\u016fraz na odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed jako mor\u00e1ln\u00ed hodnotu. Ba naopak. S\u00edla, ne\u00fastupnost, discipl\u00edna a pomsta byly pova\u017eov\u00e1ny za spr\u00e1vn\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed, pokud se v\u016fbec objevilo, m\u011blo jin\u00fd charakter ne\u017e dnes. Bylo to odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed chladn\u00e9, racion\u00e1ln\u00ed a mocensk\u00e9. Sp\u00ed\u0161e \u201eodlo\u017een\u00ed trestu\u201c ne\u017e vnit\u0159n\u00ed prom\u011bna vztahu k vin\u00edkovi nebo nep\u0159\u00edteli.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>\ud83d\udcdc<\/b><b><\/b><strong>PRO\u010c NA TOM Z\u00c1LE\u017d\u00cd?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Porozum\u011bt tomu, jak \u0158\u00edman\u00e9 ch\u00e1pali odpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed (nebo sp\u00ed\u0161 nech\u00e1pali), n\u00e1m pom\u00e1h\u00e1 l\u00e9pe pochopit samotnou podstatu jejich civilizace. Nebyla to civilizace slitov\u00e1n\u00ed, byla to civilizace \u0159\u00e1du, moci, presti\u017ee a kontroly. A pr\u00e1v\u011b d\u00edky tomu byla \u00fasp\u011b\u0161n\u00e1. Jejich sv\u011bt byl tvrd\u00fd, a p\u0159e\u017e\u00edt v n\u011bm vy\u017eadovalo tvrdost.<\/p>\n<p>Ale pr\u00e1v\u011b v tomto kontrastu se ukazuje s\u00edla prom\u011bny, kterou do evropsk\u00e9ho my\u0161len\u00ed p\u0159ineslo k\u0159es\u0165anstv\u00ed a pozd\u011bji humanismus. Dnes si \u010dasto idealizujeme antick\u00fd sv\u011bt. Jeho architekturu, filosofii a politiku. Ale zapom\u00edn\u00e1me, \u017ee byl v mnoha ohledech nemilosrdn\u00fd.
